Days change quickly and text messaging replaces with Facebook chats onwards WhatsApp, Telegram, Hike grab the communication system. In simple words, Bots are internet robots than can communicate and answer the basic queries or give a response to generally asked questions. Bots perform a task that is simple and structurally repetitive. Human alone can not be as responsive as bots are for the repeatedly asked querries.

In technical language, it is a software application that runs automated tasks over the internet. 

What is Chatbots?

Chatbots are the all-new trend now, much demanded and responding. As the world’s biggest Social network Facebook expanded access to its messenger service giving an opportunity to businesses to reach the customer with different API’s. “Chatbots” become more demanding these days. 

Chatbots are AI system that will interact via text or voice interface. These interactions are straightforward. Rather than browsing for your queries, you can be asked the chatbots and you will get a reply within a second. Like asking for the latest news, weather report etc. Chatbots is like your personal assistant and it could live on major platforms like Facebook Messanger, Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp. 

The idea behind the chatbots is to be the way to easily find anything that you are looking for. Without web search and open multiple tabs. For Example, Make a call for the table book in a restaurant you can book it from the Facebook Messanger Bot.

How does Chatbots Works?

Are they intelligent? Do they answer on their own? No, Chatbots did not work itself. Human makes them do so.   

Chatbots identify the keywords from the user input and search in the database for the predefined response. For Example, User’s text contains Hotel word then chatbots something asked like Hotel near me, which is the best hotel near me?

According to the user input, the response from the predefined pattern will be sent to the user. Well, these responses also define by the chatbot developer and loaded in the system. Basically it builds on pattern matching. Some chatbots are build in an advanced manner as they are the machine learning bots. These bots are getting smarter as they interacting with the people.

  • Data-Driven Chatbots

Well, these categorization based on the technical language, I will also mention types of chatbots based on uses.

  • Task-Oriented Chatbots

They only focused on performing one function. They generate the automated and conversational response for the user inquiries. Interaction with these types of chatbots is highly structured and applicable to support and service area function. It basically handles common questions and simple transactions. These chatbots are most commonly used Chatbots. 

  • Data-Driven Chatbots

You can say it as a Virtual assistant or digital assistant as they are more sophisticated, interactive and personalised than task-oriented chatbots. They apply their intelligence based on user profile and past user behaviour. It also provides a recommendation and also anticipates needs.  Apple Siri and Amazon Alexa are examples of Data-Driven Chatbots.

  • Support Chatbots:

They are built for a single domain only like knowledge about the company. Support bots need to have context awareness and multi-turn capability. They usually answer the wide range of FAQ types questions. The chatbot developer spends the most time to make it as easy as possible to navigate.  

Example: Optinchat or Website Chat option.

  • Skills Chatbots:

These are more single turn types bots which do not require more context-awareness. They have set commands to make the workflow easier. For Example, turn On the room lights. Speech Functionality is recommended for these types of chatbots. The bot should follow the command quickly.  

When Building a Skill Bots, it is important to focus on integration especially when you controlling Home or Personalise Object. 

  • Assistant Chatbots:

It works best when they know a little bit around a variety of topic. These bots someday become a navigator for all other bots. Assistant bots need to be conversational and response to just about anything. Apple Siri is a very good example of Assistant Chatbots.

Yes, Chatbots a big opportunity in messaging apps to find the pain of the people and provide them with a solution in areas where needed service do not exist. The only challenge is we need huge data on customer behaviour and preferences. If anyone wants to build a business online they want to build the chatbots for sure.
